The Toy and Miniature Museum is seeking candidates for the 2012 Docent Training Course. Docents are volunteers who give tours of the Museum's collections, greet visitors and assist in educational programming. The course will be Thursdays from 12:30 - 1:45 pm from January 12th through April 5th and topics will include marbles, dollhouses, dolls, fine-scale miniatures and much more!

In a joint partnership, the Toy and Miniature Museum and the Alexander Majors House will present Frozen Charlotte, a fun and interactive family program held at the Majors House Barn!
Learn about the history of the doll, hear a dramatic interpretation of the ballad that made the doll famous and make your own Victorian scrap paper collage art with a Frozen Charlotte doll!

In conjunction with the Nettie Wells Dollhouse exhibit the Toy and Miniature Museum will bring Nettie's story to life through first-person interpretation, interactive tours and a hands-on cigar box dollhouse workshop. Young actor Maycee Steele will perform the part of Nettie Wells, a real girl who lived in Kansas City in the 1880s.

Workshops: 12:30 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:15 pm (45 minutes long)

- $8 for girl scout troops (1 adult for every 5 girls required - Free admission for these adults)
- $10 for all other individuals interested in workshop
- Regular admission for those only interested in the performance

The Museum's first artist-in-residence is Lee-Ann Chellis Wessel, who specializes in porcelain, pottery, and egg tempera paintings from the Italian Renaissance. During her week in residence Lee-Ann will create a studio in the fine-scale miniature gallery so that Toy and Miniature Museum visitors can watch her work. She will also give gallery talks and teach a course at the Kansas City Art Institute. The week will culminate with a public lecture about her work and an exhibit of student's work from the Art Institute.
