Miniature Masterworks: Annelle Ferguson

Annelle Ferguson learned to needlepoint while creating carpets and needlework accessories for her daughter’s dollhouse. Since 1980, she has been researching historical designs and creating 1:12 scale reproductions. She has collaborated with many other miniature artists to create samplers, seat covers, and panels to be framed or inserted into pole screens.

Ferguson is one of more than sixty artists participating in Miniature Masterworks, September 15-17, 2017. She will be giving a gallery talk about her work in the T/m collection and the inspiration behind it on September 16 at 10:30am.

Miniature Masterworks: Sylvia Rountree

Miniature Masterworks

Sylvia Rountree is attending Miniature Masterworks as a Master Artist, a special designation for accomplished fine-scale miniature artists who have helped pave the way for others. Rountree makes 1:12 scale footwear, hats, handbags, parasols, carpetbags, and leather luggage. She estimates that she has made around 150,000 pairs of shoes.

Rountree is one of more than sixty artists participating in Miniature Masterworks, September 15-17, 2017.

Miniature Masterworks: Sandra Wall Rubin

Sandra Wall Rubin strives for maximum realism in her miniature floral pieces. Although she has worked on articulated wooden toys, miniature millinery, and sculpted clay figures, her main focus is miniature flower construction and arranging. She is self-taught and uses the finest materials. Constant experimentation helps her to achieve the best possible floral designs.

Rubin is one of more than sixty artists participating in Miniature Masterworks, September 15-17, 2017.

Miniature Masterworks: Ursula Dyrbye-Skovsted

Ursula Dyrbye-Skovsted is best known for her period birdcages, furniture, and metal work, as well as her turning, instarsia, and inlay. After training in cabinetmaking, she apprenticed with Barry Hipwell, learning miniature marquetry. She now works in a 104-year-old workshop where she creates inlay for full-scale furnishings and fine-scale miniatures.
